Case History is a photography book by the Ukrainian photographer, Boris Mikhailov. Mr. Mikhailov depicts the tragic scenes of homeless people through the lenses in his hometown.

I must say most of the images in this book are all too hard and painful to see, even just at a glance. The book captures several participants with their daily life, also contains nudity and brutal contents.

“I know people do not want to look at such photos, but only if you look at misery in a picture do you start to notice it in the street,” Boris Mikhailov once said.

This book inspires me to want to do something benefit the homeless people when I applied for this course initially. Sadly I discontinued my original project, but I think there’s still something I can learn from this book for my new project. I reckon the photographic style with strong flashlight in this book makes the picture so real, it makes the reader can feel the atmosphere and to understand the intense feeling on-the-scene.
